On the functional anatomy of the nephridia of tne Indian leech, Hirudinaria granulosa

On the functional anatomy of the nephridia of tne Indian leech, Hirudinaria granulosa

Acta Anat 59(4): 327-332

Probable functions of the different components of the leech nephridium have been discussed on the basis of the histochemical localization of alkaline phos-phatase and adenosinetriphosphatase. The first part of the leech nephridium, formed by the initial-lobe-cells, has been compared functionally with the proximal convoluted tubule of the mammalian nephron.
