Ranunculus arvensis nanellus

Ranunculus arvensis nanellus

REC TRAV BOT NEERL 25a(DeVries-volume): 409-415

In a culture of R. arvensis an individual was found which resembled this species in all characters except height (5 cm. vs. 25-60 cm. in the type). This dwarf character tended to be inherited, as the offspring of this plant varied between 1 and 9 cm. in height. Crosses were made between dwarf and normal plants. The F2 generation was too small to give any distinctive conclusions, as its 40 individuals varied between the minimum height of the dwarf and the greatest length of the normal type. The paper gives a complete anatomical and gross morphological comparison of the 2 types.
