Two chromatin-positive males were found in a buccal smear survey of 977 noninstitutionalized adult males. One presented with typical features of Flinefelter's syndrome. The other chromatin-positive male presented with a normal-sized left testis and an atrophic right testis. The latter finding was presumably due to mumps orchitis at age 30. Tissue culture studies of his skin, peripheral blood and testis revealed a sex chromosomal configuration of XY/XXY, XY and XY/XXY, respectively.
