Significance of time of first application of insecticides and number of applications in control of cotton bollworms

Eighteen experiments were carried out on fumigating cotton stalks under rubber and vynide tents, using various concentrations of HCN gas for a period of 12 or 24 hours. Results are summarized. Figures indicate that under the conditions of these experiments, satisfactory control, from 92.4 to 100% was obtained using: 35 g sodium cyanide + 35 cc suifuric acid + 70 cc water /cu m for a period of 24 hours; 50 g sodium cyanide + 50 cc suifuric acid + 100 cc water/cu m for a period of 12 hours.
