Some effects of vitamin-A deficient diets on reproduction of sows

Jour Agric Res 47(10): 943-953

In 2 exps. covering 3 yrs. no reproduction resulted when pigs were fed barley and salt supplemented by CaCO3 and casein. Addition of chopped alfalfa hay or cod liver oil assured reproduction. Barley does not contain enough vitamin A for normal reproduction.
