Some immunological properties of human and dog glomerular basement membranes. I. Isolation of human glomerular basement membrane; similar or identical complement-fixing antigens in human and dog glomerular basement membrane preparations

Human and dog glomerular basement membranes were prepared by sonic oscillation of isolated glomeruli and injected into rabbits. The rabbit antisera contained complement fixing antibodies to the homologous antigen in each case and usually, in lower titer, to the heterologous basement membrane. This in vitro cross reaction indicates that human and dog glomerular basement membrane share closely related complement fixing antigens.
