Abstract
A higher homolog of beta-carotene, synthetic 16,16 -homo-beta-carotene, C42H38, exhibits in the rat a provit. A effect amounting to 20% of that of all-trans-beta-carotene. The all-trans and the central dicis forms of the homo-beta-carotene are biochemically equivalent in the rat.
