Single specimen examinations of 1003 persons in Trujillo Alto and environs showed the following % of infection: Endamoeba histolytica, 14.5; E. coli, 345; Endolimax nana, 16.3; Iodamoeba butschlii, 3.5; Giardia lamblia, 14.3; Chilomastix mesnili, 0.7; Balantidium coli, 02; Ascaris, 9.9; Necator (and Ancylostoma), 33.5; Trichocephalus, 44.6; Strongyloides, 4.6; Enterobius, 04; Schistosoma mansoni, 122 and Hymenolepis nana, 0.1. The % of pos. cases was 81.2; the protozoan index, 0.84; the helminth index, 1.05 and the total parasite index, 1.89.
