IV. Experiments on 10 hypophysectomized rabbits surviving for 12 or more hrs. after injection show that acid- alcohol extracts of the anterior lobe of ox pituitaries will cause ovulation in estrous, pseudo-pregnant or immature rabbits hypophysectomized by decerebration. The time taken for induced ovulation to occur in estrous animala is greater than the normal reaction time after copulation: in pseudo-pregnant and immature animals the smallness of the follicles results in a much longer latent period.[long dash]V. Great difficulty was experienced in inducing ovulation in hypophysectomized rabbits by the administration of urine extracts. In 4 estrous animals out of 19, however, 1 or more follicles ovulated. Extracts of normal rabbits' placentae were found not to induce ovulation. Highly active extracts were, however, prepared from the placentae of intact or hypophysectomized rabbits previously injected with urine extracts.
