Studies on the Coccaceae. VI. The agglutination reaction as a test for differentiating the micrococci



New York geneva Agric Exp Sta Tech Bulletin 118: 1-15



Study of agglutinating properties of 41 strains of 13 selected species of micrococci indicates that agglutination or agglutination-absorption tests are not applicable to differentiation of species. Wide variation among strains, and lack of correlation among serological and other biological characters, suggests that groups based on serological tests alone are not natural species.
