A polysaccharide-peptide compound prepared from Staphylococcus aureus strain 263 has been examined serologically. The preparation produced a specific agar precipitation line and in addition showed complement-binding property. The antigen is widely distributed within genus Staphylococcus. The chemical basis of the serological reactivity of the antigen was not settled.
