Pectolinarin, pale yellow microneedles, m.p. 255-256[degree], was isolated from the leaves of Cirsium microspicatum var. kiotoense, C. dipsacolepis, and C. brevicaule, in yields of 0.9%, 0.56% and 0.1% respectively. Luteolin 7-glucoside, pale yellow microneedles, m.p. 247-248[degree], was obtained from the leaves of C. matsumurae, C. yakusimense, C. buergeri and C. nipponicum var. yoshinoi, in 0.01[image]0.06% yields. The leaves of C. spinosum afforded colorless needles, m.p. 250[degree], in yield of 0.1%, which was identified as acacetin rhamnoglucoside. The leaves of C. tanakae subsp. aomorense afforded colorless needles of m.p. 240[degree] in 0.2% yield, which was identified as cirsimarin. Rutin, yellow microneedles, m.p. 176[degree], was isolated from the leaves of C. arvense var. setosum in 0.5% yield.
