The extracts from the leachate of the soil in which "Akagare" of type III occurs caused a brown discoloration on rice leaves, whereas the extract from the leachate of the soil in which the disease does not occur failed to do so. The symptom caused by the extract was apparently similar to the one caused by "Akagare" of type III. The extract at almost the same concentration as the original leachate was capable of causing the symtom of leaf discoloration.
