Studies on the occurrence of positive serological tests for Q-fever

Studies on the occurrence of positive serological tests for Q-fever

Ann Univ Mariae Curie Sklodowska Sect D Med 14(19): 173-180

The complement fixation test was performed by the method of Wojciechowski and Babudieri. Either the Henzerling or the Nine Mile antigen was used. Of 2039 blood samples collected from both healthy persons and patients hospitalized with other diseases, the sera reacted positively at the titer of 116 with the Henzerling antigen in 7 cases and with the Nine Mile antigen in 3. At the titer of 1:32, 4 sera reached positivity. No positive reactors were found among the 473 calves and 168 sheep tested; 3 out of 840 cows reacted positively. The percentage was higher in 292 sera obtained from 10 species of small rodents with 5 (1.7%) giving a positive reaction.
