Study of plasmocytes by phase-contrast and electron microscopy III Plasmocytes with Russell bodies and crystalline inclusions

Study of plasmocytes by phase-contrast and electron microscopy III Plasmocytes with Russell bodies and crystalline inclusions

Rev Hematol: 78

Russell bodies arise by condensation of material elaborated by the plasmocyte and accumulating in the ergastoplasm. The large rectangular crystals seen in plasmocytes may develop from Russell bodies, but the fine fusiform crystals are formed directly from amorphous material accumulating in the ergastoplasm. Russell bodies and crystals are formed during the physiol. development of the plasmocyte and are not signs of degeneration.
