Sub-surface fermentation of Streptomyces aureo-faciens as a semi-technical method for preparation of chlorotetracy-cline

S. aureofaciens was grown using benzyl rhodanate (I) precursor of chlorotetracycline (II). Five gamma/ml I were added at regular intervals during the fermentation; higher concentration of I caused lysis. II was isolated from the pH2 filtered medium by precipitation with cetylpyridine.
