The alpine rock crawler, Grylloblatta campodeiformis Walker in Montana

G. campodeiformis has been taken at various points in Gallatin Co., Montana, at altitudes above 5500 ft. and with one exception in the fall. Population counts in a sample area over a 5 yr. period, 1938-1942, varied from 8 to 64. Of 58 adults of which the sex was detd., 45 were females. Copulation was observed under a stone where the soil temp. was 9.4 C. The sp. is in general solitary in habit.
