Depending on the ecological conditions of population growth, the number and ratio in age groups in Adonis vernalis change. The shoot of the plant consists of an annual overground part and perennial underground part which makes up the rhizome. Aging does not occur simultaneously in the entire plant. Morphological size of aging, expressed by a reduction of size, begins on individual shoots at the period of maximal development. Aftergrowth of plants of different ages occurs at different times. Vigorous tufts of the generative period develop earliest and old senile plants the latest (June). Aftergrowth and development of shoots occur at different times within a tuft. The weaker old shoots have delayed development. When harvesting this plant for its medicinal raw materials it is necessary to take into account that growth of the overground shoots terminates by the end of fruiting and at this period the plant is largest.
