The effect of herbicides on the respiration and photosynthesis of oats and sunflower

Tables give the action of 2,4-D and chlorine-IFK on the respiration of oats and sunflower, and also on the intensity of photosynthesis, including chickweed. The herbicides cause a sharp disruption of the oxidizing and deoxidizing processes of plants, and the degree of this disruption depends both on the phase of development of the plants and its biological characteristics, and on the dose of the chemical preparation. The physiological disruptions resulting from the treatment is overcome with time by the plant, if the dose is not large enough to kill it. A detoxication of chemical compounds harmful to the plant takes place in the plant, and the rate of detoxication depends on the species and physiological condition of the plant and also on the chemical structure, physical properties, and dose of the compound used.
