The genus Hosta in Swedish gardens. With contributions to the taxonomy, nomenclature, and botanical history of the genus

The genus Hosta in Swedish gardens. With contributions to the taxonomy, nomenclature, and botanical history of the genus

Acta Horticulturae 16(11): 331-420

ISSN/ISBN: 0567-7572

A discussion of some closely associated morphological, cytological, and genetical problems of interest to the taxonomic treatment of the various taxa, especially the cultivated ones, of Hosta in Swedish gardens. All illustrations earlier published are listed, as the author has found the lists of illustrations in the Index Londinensis not to be complete. Synonyms include only names checked by studying descriptions or authentic material. A description of the tribe Hosteae (Liliaceae) is given. The two main groups of the genus are treated as subgenera, namely Gibosi and Niobe.
