The inheritance of two characters of Cucumis melo and their interrelationship

The inheritance of two characters of Cucumis melo and their interrelationship

Proc Amer Soc Hort Sci 52: 399-402

Data are presented on the inheritance of 2 characters in which the Honey Dew melon and some of its derivatives differ from the commercial cantaloupe. Both pairs of allelic characters, dark vs. white skin color and salmon vs. green flesh color, exhibit simple Mendelian inheritance, white skin and green flesh being recessive. The 2 allelic pairs are inherited independently.
