The inter-relationship between the allergic responses of guinea-pigs sensitized with various members of the acid-fast group of organisms

Groups of guinea-piga were inoculated with tubercle bacillus (human), tubercle bacillus (avian), Johne's bacillus, a strain of acid-fast organism isolated from the vole, Mycobacterium phlei, M. smegmatis, M. butyricum, and M. stercosis. Sensitization tests were conducted 35-52 days later. The animals were sensitized to high dilutions of the homologous strains and to low dilutions of the heterologous strains in most cases.
