The labelling of boar spermatozoa with radioactive phosphorus, in vivo

Two boars of the Large White breed were given 20 mc of P32, in Na2HPO4, intravenously. Semen was collected twice a week for three months. Activity was present in the first sample of seminal fluid taken at 4 days, and reached a maximum at 14 days. Phosphoproteins showed activity at 11 days and increased to a maximum at 25 days. Deoxyribonucleic acid first showed activity on the 39th day and reached a maximum on the 46th day. This appearance of tagged DNA is earlier than in rams or bulls.
