The role of the environment in the causation of dental caries

The role of the environment in the causation of dental caries

Ann Univ Marie Curie Sklodowska Sect D Med 15(29): 313-3310

Transplantation of teeth of humans suffering from caries into oral cavities of dogs and of the teeth of caries-free dogs into the mouths of humans with caries suggested that the acids and bases of the oral cavities have been unjustly accused of being the cause of caries; that the presence of acid-producing bacteria was not the sole reason for it, and that the pathological processes do not solely depend upon the structure of the tooth, the connection with the whole organism being more inportant.
