The authors suggest using concentrations of 1.5-2 mol% D2O or H2O18 and the micro-flotation method for determining D2 in experiments with deuterium. Methods of water purification and the authors' apparatus designed for simplification of the technique are described. The relation of the uptake of D2 (with H2O : D2O = 98.2) by 2-month-old corn and cotton plants to the concentration of NaCl (0-6 mol%) was expressed by an equation with a parabolic type curve. In 1-month-old corn plants, the relation of D2 uptake, introduced with irrigation water to the level of moistening, was characterized by a smooth curve with a triple maximal hygroscopicity.
