Livestock relish the twigs and leaves of the willow and analyses show it to compare favorably to alfalfa in feeding value. In a trial with 2 lots of young chickens, those receiving willow instead of alfalfa made the greatest gains. The other rations were identical. It is recommended that the willow be planted extensively for its beauty and utility and for use as an emergency feed in unfavorable seasons. The propagation and care of willow are discussed.
