A child is described who, after pica for dog-fouled toxocara-contaminated soil, became pale with a wheezy cough and out of sorts. Lead poisoning was excluded. Investigation revealed a persistent eoslnophilla, an enlarged liver and spleen, hyperglobulinemia, raised anti-A and anti-B titre, and a positive toxocara skin test. A presumptive diagnosis of visceral larva migrans due to Toxocara canis infection was made, and is toe first to be reported in a London-born child.
