Urea excretion under fasting condition was studied in 3 groups of pre-school age children with different nutritional characteristics, corresponding to "low", "intermediate" and "high" protein intake. The urea excreted was determined under conditions of minimum urinary flow rate, and after water diuresis was provoked. A significant increase in urea excretion was observed associated with the water load, only in the group with low protein intake.
