An examination was made of medullary changes in the adrenal gland of a dog artifically hibernated, and of alterations in vitamin C, lipoids and ketosteroids in the cortex. There is a cessation of function in the medulla, but the cortex seems to develop a vital process under hypothermia. This process has two stages: (1) An increase in function followed by (2) an inhibition of function. This conclusion is drawn on the basis of diaprasia and enchosis observed histologically.
