Abstract
Empiric recurrence risks in sibs for the eight most common and four uncommon congenital heart lesions have been obtained from a study of 1405 patients with congenital cardiovascular malformations. Risks to offspring of parents with any of four common congenital heart diseases were determined in a study of 210 adults who had congenital heart defects and who had reproduced. The recurrence risks are presented and are found to approximate the prediction of the multifactorial inheritance hypothesis.
