Systematic sampling versus random sampling in terra firma wet tropical forest in the manaus region brazil

Systematic sampling versus random sampling in terra firma wet tropical forest in the manaus region brazil

Acta Amazonica 16-17(1): 393-400, 1986

An evaluation was made of the efficiency of systematic sampling in comparison with random sampling, both applied in forest inventory. The representative forest inventory, testing both sampling methods, was carried out at the Forest Management Basin (Bacia 3). Each method sampled 12.5 per cent of the 96 hectare forest area. The efficiency was evaluated by calculating the standard error in each case. The systematic sampling has been shown to be more efficient than the random sampling in the Bacia 3.
