A check-list and host-list of the ectoparasites recorded from British birds and mammals

A check-list and host-list of the ectoparasites recorded from British birds and mammals

Trans Soc Brit Ent 6(1): 1-22

This paper constitutes the first of a series of 3 papers, which it is hoped will present a host-list and check-list of parasites of British birds and mammals. This part deals only with mammals excluding the bats, which will be the subject of the 2d part. The 3d part will deal with birds. The parasites are listed under orders, families and genera. The orders are listed as follows: Mallophaga, Siphunculata. Diptera, Coleoptera and Siphonaptera. Under each parasite are given the host, references to the original description and papers containing useful drawings to facilitate easy identification.
