Mating in trios is preferred over the colony system. Pens are made up at 5-6 months. Breeding occurs at about 7 months and rebreeding at 4.5 month intervals to 5 years. Weaning is 2 months with the young being grouped in large pens. Abortion may follow introduction of a new male during gestation. Sawdust litter is not recommended.
