A riboflavin excreting mutant yeast

A riboflavin excreting mutant yeast

Jour Science and Indust Res India 8b(12): 236-237

A strain of top yeast, mutant BY 2, obtained by treatment of the brewery yeast strain BY 1 with acenaphthene (cf. M. K. Subramaniam, and B. Ranganathan, Nature 157: 49. 1946), showed heavier growth and an excretion of riboflavin in comparison with its parent strain in a modified synthetic liquid medium with glucose. It appears suitable for yeast manufacture.
