Jour Laryngol & Otol: 717-731

The case recorded and examined microscopically is one of acute, purulent pneumococcal leptomeningitis consequent upon operation on the ethmoidal air cells. The microscope demonstrated that the lymph sheaths of the olfactory nerves were the paths along which infection had spread from the nasal mucous membrane to the leptomeninges. The anatomy of the lymphatics of the nasal mucous membrane is described and illustrated.[long dash].
