The temperature of irrigation water was controlled for 15 days in 1957 and for 30 days in 1958, with a range from 15[degree] to 35[degree] C. The number of panicles increased with day temperature high and night temperature low. Low temperatures always increase number of tillers and reduce the plant height while tall plants came with high day temperature and a night temperature of 25[degree] C. The number of spikelets per panicle and the percentage of ripened grains were not affected. The weight of grains was increased by high temperature day and night from start of spikelet differentiation to the heading stage while yield was increased if these high temperatures held throughout the growing period, with little loss by low night temperature plus high day temperature. Heading dates were later if the daily mean temperature of the water was lower than 27.5[degree] C.
