In M. seenghala there are two superior jugulars and one inferior jugular bringing back blood to the heart from the head region. The blood from the posterior part of the body is brought back to the heart by renal and hepatic portals, and posterior cardinals. The direct connection of unique occurrence between the right renal portal vein and left hepatic portal vein is of great morphological interest in this fish. The left cardinal, as is usual in teleosts, is sometimes well developed, sometimes defective. The right cardinal is stouter than the left one.
