Application and improvement of the bulletin method on the analysis of quintozene, triflurarin, isoprothiolane and butachlor



Journal of the Food Hygienic Society of Japan 39(1): 51-59



The bulletin method was applied to the analysis of herbicides with changes in the gas chromatography column used and the temperature of the column. Changes in the method improved the recovery of 13 organochlorine pesticides and 4 other pesticides. Recoveries of pesticides from florasil and silica gel cartridge columns showed that the use of ether and hexane recovered quintozene and trifluralin more effectively than isoprothiolane or butachlor, while ethyl acetate and hexane recovered isoprothiolane and butachlor more effectively than quintozene or trifluralin. The recovery of these 4 pesticides from brown rice was 76.4-96.7% using the improved methods. Recovery of quintozene and trifluralin from brown rice was satisfactory, but that of butachlor and isoporthiolane was not as good.
