Assessing ratooning potentialities of the strains of Sorghum for fodder

Indian Jour Dairy Sci 8(4): 135-142

Six local strains of Sorghum and one introduction from Australia (Sugar drip) were tested for fodder yield and ratooning potentialities. The fodder was cut at intervals of 60 days and analyzed for HCN concentration. None of the strains elaborated any lethal concentrations of HCN during any stage of growth. Different varieties of Sorghum could be differentiated by their HCN content.
