Assessment of the granulosis virus of Cydia pomonella L as a tool to control the pea moth Cydia nigricana F in grain peas

In Germany, pea moth (<i>C. nigricana</i>) is a serious problem especially for organic vegetable peas. The <i>C. pomonella</i> granulosis virus (CpGV) induces death in <i>C. pomonella</i>. The virus does not act by contact but by ingestion. Small scale field-tests with CpGV were conducted in Germany using grain pea Santana. During the hatching of eggs, pea plants were sprayed with CpGV.
