Crop production at Nkhate is strongly affected by how farmers make decisions on fertilizer allocation to different crops. Participatory experiments were therefore conducted to determine the effects of N and P rates on productivity and profitability of maize and rice under irrigation and supplementary irrigated maize. An experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with five N+P treatment rates and five replicates.
