Content of protein and wet and dry gluten in the grain of Triticum durum wheat varieties depending on nitrogen fertilization

Content of protein and wet and dry gluten in the grain of Triticum durum wheat varieties depending on nitrogen fertilization

Agraren Universitet Plovdiv: 91-96

Field experiments were conducted in Chirpan, Bulgaria, from 2004 to 2007, to determine the protein and wet and dry gluten contents of different durum wheat cultivars based on nitrogen (N) fertilizer application. The treatments consisted of the durum wheat cultivars Progres, Neptun 2, Beloslava, Saturn I and Vozhod under 4 N rates, i.e. 0, 6, 12 and 18 kg N/da. The results indicated that the application of high N rates had positive influence over the protein content in grains.
