Embryogenesis and plantlet formation in tissue culture of Kaempferia galanga L A medicinal plant

Phytomorphology 42(3-4): 253-256, 1992 ( )

Rhizome explants of Kaempferia galanga with vegetative buds developed highly embryogenic callus when cultured in MS medium supplemented with BAP + 2,4-D (0.5mg + 1.0mg/l). Callus subcultured on MS medium supplemented with BAP + NAA (0.1mg/l + 1.0mg/l) produced small globular embryoids, on the peripheral layers, which further developed into plants when transferred to hormone-free medium. Plantlets were acclimatised and subsequently transferred to field.
