Flower abscission, flower opening and petal color development in cut phlox flower heads effect of methyl jasmonate, gibberellic acid and sucrose

Flower abscission, flower opening and petal color development in cut phlox flower heads effect of methyl jasmonate, gibberellic acid and sucrose

Acta Horticulturae: 4, 315-321

The effects of methyl jasmonate (MJ), gibberellic acid (GA) and sucrose (SUC), alone and in combination, on postharvest flower abscission, flower opening, and colour development in cut phlox (<i>Phlox paniculata</i>) flower heads were studied. GA induced the abscission of open flowers and inhibited the development of flower colour. Although flower buds continued to open, the flowers remained small and were almost white in colour.
