Inheritance of fruit shape and growth habit in tomato

Inheritance of fruit shape and growth habit in tomato

Journal of Research Punjab Agricultural University 28(4): 489-492, 1991

These studies were conducted on parents, F-1, F-2, F-3, BC-1 and BC-2 generations of three crosses, viz. Cornell 6131 times Punjab Chhuhara (Cross-1), Campbell 146 times Punjab Chhuhara (Cross-2) and Campbell Soup times Punjab Chhuhara (Cross-3) (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill) in three separate experiments. Growth habit as well as fruit shape were found to be under monogenic control. Indeterminate growth habit was completely dominant over determinate growth habit and round fruit shape was incompletely dominant over pear shape.
