Mechanism of biotechnical slope protection for highway slope and anchorage effect of deep-rooted plants

An experiment was conducted to study the mechanism of biotechnical slope protection in terms of mechanical effect of plant roots, hydrological effect of stems and litter, and transpiration effect of plants. Anchorage effect of deep-rooted plants was confirmed by field tests of <i>Lespedeza bicolor</i> root. Shear strength on the slope with plant roots was shared by plant roots and root-soil complex at various stages.
