Thermophilic variants of Saccharomyces cerevisiae (race XII) were tested under semi-plant conditions in the fermentation of wood hydrolysates. The production of alcohol at 35-36[degree]C by a system of continuous or intermittent fermentation was not lower than 30[degree] fermentation. The proliferation of the thermophilic yeast in the wood hydrolysate at the higher temperatures proceeded at a reduced rate.
