Performance of Hardwickia binata Roxb in intensive silvo-pastoral systems in Thar desert

The characteristics of <i>Hardwickia binata</i> which was first introduced in the Thar desert region of Rajasthan, India are described. The adaptability of this species to arid environment, its potential for top feed production and its compatibility with other species in silvopastoral systems are discussed. The present status of adoption and the future value of species in Thar Desert are explored.
