EU directives predict that by the year 2010, biofuel must increase to 5.75% of all of the fuel utilized. Some 240 000 tonnes of rapeseed necessary for this product will be grown in Latvia. Investigations showed that protein content in the dry matter of rapeseed was 26.5+or-4.43%, fat content was 40.03+or-1.26%, fibre content was 8.3+or-0.1%, non-nitrogen extractives content was 20.5+or-3.65% and digestible protein content was 190.6+or-25.61 g/kg.
