Abstract
This paper explores the rural non-farm sector (RNF) in Punjab by examining the pattern of rural non-farm employment, identifying the characteristics which influence the access to RNF employment and delineates the determinants of RNF income of an individual worker/household. A survey was conducted on 315 rural households in 2005-06. The RNF sector engages 57% of the males and 82.5% of the female workers.
